What Contrasting Colors Did You Use?

I used purple as the undertone to contrast the yellow I was trying to use for her skin tone. Purple was also a color correcter I used on the neck because I had a bright yellow area that wasn't blending so the purple came in handy while I was trying to fix that.

What Were Some of The Constraints

I was struggling a lot with making her look more realistic. I think she fits the cartoon realism genre of art rather than full realism. I think the areas that make it look cartoony are her mouth and eyes. The eyes are missing details like small red veins and thinner eyelashes. The lips are also much too pink to be considered realistic.

How does value alter perspective?

Value can make something appear as if it's popping off of the page and that it is really there. Without value the drawing will look flat and not realistic. I think I tried to utilize value but it's still a struggle to imagine it popping off the page because the images themselves aren't shaded correctly.

What were some of your constraints?

I think that I kept erasing and redrawing that eventually my marks just stayed on the paper, which can take away from the main focus. I also was so focused on the whale that everything else suffered, I didn't even realize my satellite in the first image wasn't a full image. I  also have never used professional pencils before which resulted in me pressing to hard or not hard enough which made my lines all look very different.
